It is a beach town which is growing in leaps and bounds. There are several gated communities which are being developed in and around the area as well as many homes for resale.
Granada, the oldest colonial city in the Americas, is the number one tourist destination in Nicaragua. Granada has maintained it’s beautiful colonial architecture and the entire city is slowly being renovated to its original grandeur. There are 36 new projects on the books for Granada, including a tourist center, aquarium and new roads to Masaya and Managua. New restaurants, hotels and tour operators have opened their doors in the past year to accommodate the influx of tourism. Real estate prices are climbing but they are still very affordable and offer a great return on your investment.  Laguna de Apoyo, 20 minutes northwest of Granada, is a beautiful lake which has formed in the crater of an extinct volcano. The views of Granada, Lake Nicaragua and the Mombacho volcano are spectacular from the rim of the Laguna. Laguna de Apoyo is the cleanest lake in all of Nicaragua and has many natural minerals, which some say, gives the waters a healing factor. The Laguna is a great investment whether you are looking for a lot or a home, on the rim or lakeside.
